Sentinel North Winter 2020 Training and Workshops

Sentinel North invites its Université Laval community to take part in a series of workshops and training activities aimed at addressing the complex themes of its research program, while promoting the development of transversal skills. These activities are open to all (students, professors, researchers, professionals).
Scientific Writing Workshops
February 18, February 25, March 10 and March 17, 2020
Sentinel North offers a series of 4 practical and interactive workshops aimed at equipping graduate students, professionals and researchers to become more efficient and creative in the practice of scientific writing.
Workshop themes : The basics of writing a scientific article; Practical group work on your own manuscripts; The art of writing in English; and The visualization of research results.
Registration is required (participation to all workshops is not mandatory).
Bootcamp on data acquisition : from the sensor to information
February 21 to 23, 2020
Under the initiative of Université Laval's FONCER-SMAART and Sentinelle Nord programs, this bootcamp offers participants intensive and integrative training aimed at developing theoretical and practical knowledge in data acquisition and programming.
For this activity, scientific experts will join participants to explore new avenues in their research projects. The bootcamp will also allow for the development of transversal skills such as networking and scientific collaboration, communication and planning in a transdisciplinary research context.

Research collaboration and intellectual property
March 16, 2020 at the CERVO Brain Research Centre
This workshop aims to make researchers and research professionals aware of the pitfalls of research collaboration, information confidentiality and intellectual property.
For graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and professionals from all disciplines. This training is for anyone who needs to interact with external collaborators from the academic or private sectors. This training is provided in English.
Deadline for registration: March 3, 2020. Places are limited.
Special event on interdisciplinary collaboration
April 2, 2020
Sentinel North and Université Laval's Chantiers d'avenir are joining forces to offer a special activity on the theme of interdisciplinary collaboration.
Through workshop-style discussions in small groups, participants will be invited to think about the benefits and challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration and the best practices to be promoted in order to create inclusive and supportive spaces for this practice. The event will conclude with a networking activity.
