The third Sentinel North International PhD School is underway
The Sentinel North International PhD School on Arctic Microbiomes is taking place at the Centre for Northern Studies (CEN) research station in Whapmagoostui-Kujjuarapik, Nunavik, from July 2–12, 2019. Some 18 early career scientists and 12 internationally renowned professors and experts from multiple fields, representing 12 countries, will travel through various subarctic ecosystems and the edges of the Hudson Bay region. Their goal is to better understand the role of northern microbiomes in the Arctic food chain, ecosystem services and human health.

The team of 18 early career scientists and 12 world-class professors and experts will explore the subarctic ecosystems along the vast coast of the Hudson Bay as part of a unique experience aimed at studying the role of microbiomes in shaping arctic food webs, ecosystems services, and human health in the North.
Second edition of the Complex Networks Winter Workshop
Sentinel North in collaboration with the Complex Systems Center of the University of Vermont announce the second edition of the Complex Networks Winter Workshop (CNWW), to be held on December 15 to 20, 2019 in Quebec city.
Building on the success of the first occurrence of the event, the two institutions team up again to allow more than 40 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and professionals to engage in rigorous transdisciplinary complexity science research alongside some of the top researchers in the field of networks.
Postdoctoral Fellow Travel Fund
Program objectives
This grant allows postdoctoral fellows to travel abroad for training and research trips to world-renowned laboratories and research centres, or to participate in specialized workshops or summer schools whose topics align with Sentinel North’s research program. Sentinel North wishes to use this program to develop international scientific collaboration networks and encourage the sharing of knowledge and experience across borders.
More specifically, the program aims to encourage students to:
Enhancing the Northern Infrastructure Access Fund and the Event Support Program
In an aim to better support the Sentinel North research teams and partners as well as the Université Laval community, the evaluation dates for the Northern Infrastructure Access Fund and for the Event Support Program have been modified.
Applications for the Northern Infrastructure Access Fund will now be assessed on March 1 and October 1. Check out the revised terms here.
Sentinel North Excellence Scholarship Recipients
Sentinel North scholarships and fellowships aim to encourage top applicants to undertake or pursue research activities within Sentinel North's research program in an interdisciplinary environment.
Congratulations to all recipients of Sentinel North Master's, PhD and Postdoctoral scholarships and fellowships!
